What is a Dental Appliance?
Maintaining good oral health is more than just brushing and flossing. For those of us who play sports, who clench or grind our teeth or who snore, dental appliances can help preserve and protect our oral structures, reduce pain and increase the health of our whole bodies.
Dental appliances offered at Carbonear Dental – such as mouth guards and sleep apnea devices – are used to help protect the health of your oral cavity.
Snoring Appliances
Sleep disorders can disrupt your sleep and negatively impact your overall health and wellbeing.
For patients who snore, their relaxed throat tissues cause the airway to restrict, creating the sound of snoring as oxygen is forced past.
At Carbonear Dental, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances to move the lower jaw and tongue muscles to open the airway. This helps improve your flow of breath and prevents you from snoring during the night.
Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards
We offer custom-made mouth guards that fit over your teeth to protect them from damage.
Sports Guards
If you get hit in the mouth during a sports activity, a mouth guard provides a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to protect your smile.
Night Guards
If you grind your teeth during sleep, a mouth guard will help protect your teeth from damage. If you clench your jaw, a mouth guard will also help prevent you from clenching and provide some pain relief.
